There are various tools in The Legend of Zelda series, but none are as iconic as the Master Sword and Hylian Shield. We've seen glimpses of a ruined Master Sword in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but the Hylian Shield is nowhere to be seen. This may leave you wondering if the Hylian Shield is in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Does the Hylian Shield appear in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?
At the time of writing, we do not know if the Hylian Shield is in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. While the iconic shield has appeared in nearly every Zelda title, it has been absent in the Tears of the Kingdom promotional trailers. Instead, we see Link carrying a different shield.
Instead of the Hylian Shield, Link appears to be carrying a new shield, one not seen in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The shield features a similar shape to the Hylian Shield but with a more rounded design. It foregoes bold blues, reds, and gold and features a simple white design with symbols that appear to be Sheikah.
This could be a new shield that plays an integral part in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, or it may simply be a common shield found throughout the game. The Hylian Shield had to be found deep in the bowels of Hyrule Castle in Breath of the Wild, so it wouldn't be a surprise if players had to unlock the Hylian Shield in Tears of the Kingdom.
