World of Warcraft Season of Discovery is here, and Hunters are wondering what pet they should tame first. Here's what we know about that.
What's the best Hunter pet in World of Warcraft Season of Discovery?
Luckily, the best Hunter pets from WoW Classic remain the best pets in Season of Discovery. What that does mean is you'll have some choices to make. If you're somebody who likes to fight everything they come across, a boar will work best for you as they can grab aggro on enemies in a hurry. They also have a charge ability, which is nice to have.
Scorpions are very strong in Season of Discovery with their poison damage, but players suspect there is a bug causing that. As it stands right now, the pet alone can dish out more DPS than entire classes. Owls still make for good tanks if you want your pet to survive a mob while you're dealing damage from afar.
If you have to pick one, a scorpion is the best bet right now until nerfs come in. There's no guarantee that'll ever happen, and it might not even be a bug causing the high damage. The best thing you can do is tame one when you see one, something extremely easy for Horde, and ride the wave.
Do Hunters need a pet in WoW Season of Discovery?
Season of Discovery added a bunch of runes into the game, and there's a very interesting one for Hunters. The Lone Wolf rune buffs damage by 15% if you do not have an active pet. That's a high number, but you'll have to weigh many options.
By forgoing a pet, you'll have to fight all of the enemies yourself, and there's no safety net anymore. For that reason, it's probably best to have a pet while leveling, but you can opt to go solo while in a raid or dungeon scenario. On the other hand, if the scorpion pet remains this strong, it'll be hard to ever get rid of it.
