Best Warframe Companion Mods and How To Get Them

Man's best friend...

With the Abyss of Dagath update, Companions got a major boost to overall survivability. Still, even with the buffs, you need to be using the right Companion mods to make them as useful as they can be—so, here are the best Companion mods you can get your hands on in Warframe.

Strongest Companion Mods in Warframe

One thing to note is that Companions are not for dealing damage. There are damage mods that exist and can be used on Companions. However, in almost all cases, you will be dealing all the damage yourself because your weapons are just much stronger. This means your Companion is there to serve as pure utility. The best mods for your Companion are, therefore, focused on survivability and utility.

Primed Animal Instinct

Primed Animal Instinct is a utility-focused mod that provides you with both a Loot and Enemy radar at the same time. Playing Warframe is all about the grind, so making sure you can see the loot that drops and the enemies you're facing at all times is imperative for efficient farming.

This mod can only be obtained by purchasing it for 200,000 Credits and 300 Ducats from Baro Ki'Teer. Note that Baro Kit'Teer appears two weeks at any Relay, and his stock changes with every appearance. This means it could take several cycles before this mod shows up in his shop.

Vacuum/Fetch

Vacuum/Fetch is one of the oldest mods in Warframe but still one of the most used. As its name suggests, it lets your Companion suck up any items you get close to without you needing to loot them yourself. The distance of this effect depends on the level of the mod your Companion is using, but generally, you want to max this out for maximum efficiency. Vacuum is for Robot Companions, while Fetch is for Beast Companions.

Vacuum is obtained from crafting any Sentinel Companion and claiming it from your Foundry. Fetch is a possible drop from any Kubrow enemy in the game. It also drops from several creatures on Deimos, which is why I recommend you farm the wilds of Deimos instead. Faster.

Dig

Dig is a utility mod for Sahasa Kubrows that allows them to uncover hidden items around whatever battlefield you're on. Dig can unveil random ammo types, health orbs, energy orbs, and even mods, making it an essential mod for, well, farming more mods. Note this mod is only usable on Sahasa Kurbros.

This mod drops from any Kubrow enemy in the game, including the Feral Kubrows you can find on Earth.

Sharpened Claws

Sharpened Claws is a damage-dealing mod for Kavats that allows them to remove armor from any enemy hits while it is equipped. This mod is extremely strong for high levels of play in Warframe, as enemies tend to get absurd amounts of armor that makes them very difficult to kill through normal means. This lets you build for more damage than armor strip.

The mod is a drop from Hyekka or Kuva Hyekka. I recommend just farming Kuva Hyekka from Kuva Grineer on any Survival node located within the Kuva Fortress.

Reinforced Bond

Reinforced Bond is a utility mod introduced with the Abyss of Dagath update. It is an insanely powerful mod that grants you a massive fire rate boost if your Companion exceeds 1,200 Max Shield or Overshield. Additionally, reloading restores Overshield to your Companion. If you can meet the mod's steep requirement, then it is invaluable to have. I recommend running a Warframe like Hilda or Mag that can grant significant shielding if you're unable to achieve the requirements through normal means.

This mod can be purchased from The Business at Fortuna on Venus.

Tandem Bond

Tandem Bond is a beast. The Companion utility mod was also introduced with the Abyss of Dagath update. Companion hits will increase your Combo Counter by six. Additionally, when you land Heavy Attacks with your melee weapon, you boost the damage of your Companion for 30 seconds. This mod may not seem strong to those who are unaware of how deadly melee damage is in Warframe, but let me assure you it's totally worth using. As your Combo Counter builds, you deal more damage with melee attacks. Having an outside source also boosting it is a godsent.

This mod can be purchased from Master Teasonai at Cetus on Earth.

Vicious Bond

The final Bond mod on this list, Vicious Bond is a utility mod that causes your Companion to strip the armor of targets they hit with melee attacks. This armor strip is only 15%, making it worse than Sharpened Claws on paper. However, its secondary effect allows this armor strip effect to affect all enemies within a nine-meter radius if the target in question was hit recently by a Warframe ability. It is this AOE (Area of Effect) mechanic that makes this mod incredibly strong, especially in high-level content.

This mod can be purchased from Son at Necralisk on Deimos.
