Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin – All confirmed jobs and Job System explained

It's time for you to get a job.

Jobs are a staple mechanic of the Final Fantasy series, with various forms of jobs or the Job System being included in every Final Fantasy game since the beginning. They're hugely important, as they determine what kinds of skills your characters are capable of learning, along with the weapons and armor they'll be able to equip. They first made an appearance in Final Fantasy I, and, in the original, players assign each of their characters a job that is used for the entirety of the game.

Some of the later installments in the Final Fantasy series give players a bit more freedom when choosing jobs, though, no longer locking characters into a singular style of play. Square Enix has stated that Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will follow this trend, but, in an interesting way that will feel fresh for long-time fans of the series. In case you aren't up-to-date, here's Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin—all confirmed jobs and Job System explained.

Available jobs and using the Job System

The developers of Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin have said it will contain the largest list of available jobs out of any Final Fantasy game released so far. Unfortunately, they've been relatively secretive about what those jobs will be.

A few of the jobs that players will be able to choose from have been revealed by the developers during interviews, such as Swordfighter and Black Mage, but the screenshots provided by Square Enix and the demo have really shed some light on some of the jobs that players can expect to see. The jobs we've seen confirmed in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin so far are:

Job System

The Job System in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin shakes things up when compared to its predecessors—characters can equip two jobs at once, switching between them on the fly during battle. For example, players can assign both the Thief and White Mage jobs to one of their characters, allowing for swift, nimble strikes, along with the ability to heal themselves or the party.

This means that there should be quite a bit of freedom in the way players can approach battles. Maybe you'll combine hard hits with healing magic, or maybe a lance-and-dual blades combo is more your style. No matter which pairing you choose, the combat in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is sure to be unique and entertaining.

Job Trees

In Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, each job has a Job Tree associated with it. As players level up their character by defeating enemies, they will receive a form of experience called Job Points. These can then be used to unlock Nodes and access a wide variety of benefits for your characters, such as an increase to their stats or learning new skills. Based on the demos, using the Job Tree will be a critical part of bringing out each job's maximum potential and surviving the many encounters you'll face.
