What are simulation maps in Splitgate?

Is life a simulation?

Splitgate is a free-to-play arena-based shooter that features a variety of maps and weapons. In total, there are 16 maps available to play on. These are divided into Standard Maps and Simulation Maps. You may be wondering what Simulation Maps are and what makes them different.

Simulation Maps differ from the standard maps as they are much cleaner and have simpler designs. They are also smaller and have a more symmetrical design. Because of this, Simulation Maps are used for competitive play.

There are six different Simulation Maps in Splitgate. These maps are:

  • Simulation Alpha
  • Simulation Bravo
  • Simulation Charlie
  • Simulation Delta
  • Simulation Echo
  • Simulation Foxtrot

Simulation Maps are only available in the ranked modes Takedown and Showdown, though you can also play them in custom games. These two game modes take advantage of the symmetrical and small space in round-based styles. Each team will have finite lives, and this forces them to engage with each other quickly.

The minimal design of the Simulation Maps is perfect for competitive play as they reduce distractions and level the playing field. These maps feature a large number of portal surfaces that allow players to capitalize on portal gameplay. This allows players to memorize the maps and rely on their skill to win.
