If you do that, she'll run away, but because of the glitch, she'll run away never to return. These are the most effective solutions for the Virginia bug, at least until developers address this issue:
Save the game and load it
Like all bugs, it often goes away when you reload the game. That's the easiest way out of this bug. With a bit of luck, Virginia will return as if nothing happened. Give her time to return, though, as she might have run very far, so she needs some time to return. While this is a good solution for Virginia glitch, be careful not to overwrite your save position before accidentally injuring her.
Complete the sleep cycle to make Virginia return
