How to Change Essences in Shin Megami Tensei V

Reinvent your Nahobino.

Shin Megami Tensei V offers a variety of ways to customize both the player character and his party members for battle. Players can tweak their skills and affinities for fights by changing character Essences, altering the makeup of their roster, which can be vital to overcoming formidable enemies with a handful of unique weaknesses.

To change the Essences of the Nahobino and accompanying Demons, head to the World of Shadows and speak to Sophia. Once in the World of Shadows, select the Apotheosis option from her menu. Next, choose Essence Fusion to bring up the Essence menu.

Select the character whose Essence you'd like to alter. Once you've chosen which character you want to change the Essence of, select an essence on your inventory to meld with this character. Players can find Essences by fighting an enemy type repeatedly or by searching Treasure Boxes. You'll have to have an Essence in your inventory to alter your party members.

The Nahobino can have his affinities and skills swapped, whereas his party members can only change their skills.

If you're struggling with a boss or Punishing Foe, make sure to return to the World of Shadows and repeat this process to restructure your party.
