How to tame the Nine-Tailed Fox in Rune Factory 5

There is no monster you can’t tame.

The Nine-Tailed Fox is the very first boss you encounter in the game. It’s not very powerful and its easy to dodge its attacks. The Nine-Tailed Fox is the only monster that drops the Nine-Tailed Fox Bell, a rare item used for crafting. Taming it will not produce the items you need, but you do get an amazing monster to aid you in your adventures.

Here’s how to tame it:

  1. Go to Whispering Woods: Depths after your first battle with it.
  2. Brush the Nine-Tailed Fox until the music note icon stops appearing above its head. This will make it friendlier towards you and, thus, easier to capture.
  3. Do not attack it. Instead, give it items that it likes. The Nine-Tailed Fox likes Tempuras, Tempura Udons, and Strawberries grown from Starfall seeds. It also likes to the Nine-Tailed Fox Bells it drops.
    • You’ll know you’re doing it right once you see the heart icon over its head with every gift. It will take a while, but it will eventually come with you.

If you’re still unsuccessful after many attempts, try again at a higher level. The wider your level gap, the higher its chances of being tamed. Also, make sure that you have space in one of your Barns. Monsters will never come with you if there is no room for them.
