To change your Pokémon’s nickname, visit the Name Rater in Eterna City. He can be found in the Eterna Condominiums, which is the building to the right of the Poké Mart. In it, you’ll see an old man in blue sitting at the nearest table. He will ask if you want your Pokémon’s nickname rated.

Say yes, present the Pokémon whose name you want to be changed. He’ll make some quippy comment about it, but will later ask if you want to give a better name. Say yes to that too, and you’ll be allowed to change its name.

You can only change nicknames of Pokémon you have bred or captured. Traded Pokémon keep their original nicknames.
