Can Rhyhorn be shiny in Pokémon GO (December 2023)?

Now is a great time to break out those Sinnoh Stones.

Fans of the first generation of Pokémon are going to have plenty of favorites to catch in Pokémon GO. The 7th Anniversary event ensures that staples like Blastoise, Pikachu, and Lapras will be available. Next week, there will be another chance for players to catch one of the original 151: Rhyhorn. Lucky trainers might even find a shiny one.

How to find shiny Rhyhorn in Pokémon GO (July 2023)

Shiny Rhyhorn will have a chance of popping up at its Spotlight Hour. This event will take place on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at the customary time of 6pm to 7pm local time. During this hour, trainers will be able to encounter Rhyhorn frequently, increasing their odds of finding a shiny Rhyhorn.

The bonus during Rhyhorn's Spotlight Hour will be double Catch Candy. This can be a quick way to gain tons of candy for any trainers who are short on that resource.

Seeing Rhyhorn get some attention is nice. I always thought Rhyhorn and its evolutions were great Pokémon, but they weren't as popular as other Rock-types such as Geodude and Onix.

How to evolve Rhyhorn in Pokémon GO

Rhyhorn has two stages of evolution: Rhydon and Rhyperior. It only takes 25 Rhyhorn candies to evolve it into Rhydon. In order to complete its evolution into Rhyperior, though, trainers will need a Sinnoh Stone. These are rare drops that only come from spinning Pokestops and special events, so hopefully trainers have held on to some already.

Which other Pokémon are getting Spotlight Hours in July?

Rhyhorn will be the third Pokémon to have a Spotlight Hour in July, following Rufflet and Wailmer. There is one other Spotlight Hour left in July, and that will be dedicated to Yungoos. Fans may remember this Pokémon roaming around the grass in the early routes of Melemele Island in the Alola Region.
