Best nature for Koffing and Weezing in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

The gas ball can certainly take an attack or two.

It may not seem like it, but Weezing can be an absolute tank in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. With the right nature, Weezing can really show off its strong defenses. A defensive playstyle is also exactly what Weezing wants, allowing it to chip away at opponents with Toxic and heal up with Pain Split and Black Sludge.

Which is the best nature for Koffing and Weezing in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

The best natures for Koffing and Weezing in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet are as follows:

  • Bold (+ Def, - Atk)
  • Adamant (+ Atk, - Sp Atk)

Nine times out of ten, Weezing will want a Bold nature. This is because it has a 120 base Defense stat, which the Bold nature would further boost. With this build, Weezing should be able to sit in front of any physical attacker save maybe a Pure Power Medicham.

Bold Weezing also likes to use its Special attacks more, which may seem odd seeing as Weezing's physical Attack stat is higher. The main reason for this is Flamethrower: it can use this move to hit Steel-types that can't be poisoned.

Adamant Weezing is another option if players really want to make use of Explosion and Self Destruct. Since it's such a defensive tank, opponents will bring in Special Attackers like Iron Valiant and Volcarona to KO it. If Weezing uses Explosion with an Adamant nature, though, it will likely pick up the KO.

How to choose the best nature for Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet?

Trainers really have to think about the role they want their Pokémon to play before they decide on a nature. Defensive Pokémon like Weezing are going to want natures like Bold, Impish, Calm, and Careful to boost their defenses. Other threats like Chien Pao and Baxcalibur want to boost either their Speed or damage output.
