Persona 4 Arena Ultimax launched for PC on March 17. Unfortunately, the port wasn’t without a few bugs, including the white screen on launch bug. But what causes the white screen on launch bug, and how can you stop it from happening?
The white screen on launch bug is usually linked to an error with video playback currently in the game. This is also related to how Windows currently plays videos. There are a few workarounds to solve this. The first is to hold the Alt key and press the Tab key to cycle through windows until you find the active window for Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Then press Enter or Start on your controller to skip to the main menu.

To skip having to do these steps again, you’ll want to set your game to either Full Window or Window Mode in the options going forward. To do this, head to Options, and then Display Options, and scroll down to Display Mode. Change it to the desired mode and then press Return at the bottom of the menu to save the settings.
You can also attempt to force the game to start in windowed mode by changing the launch settings. Right-click the game in Steam and select Properties. In General, under Launch Options, add the line –windowed.
Alternatively, this can be an issue with your graphics drivers or DirectX. Make sure all your drivers are updated to the latest versions before launching. The white screen error is a known bug and will hopefully be patched in the near future.
