Roblox Metaverse Champions is a faction-based Competition event, “replacing” Egg Hunt 2021

This year's Egg Hunt received quite the face-lift.

It's official: the Egg Hunt 2021 event has evolved into Metaverse Champions, marking the first Spring event to deviate from the traditional Easter-themed event. Reported by Bloxy News and RBXNews on Twitter, Metaverse Champions will be a competition-based event pitting four factions against each other.

Metaverse Champions Event Detailed

This limited-time event runs from April 15 to May 20. The description below of Metaverse Champions comes from RBX News:

"Rally behind your favorite champions and set out on a quest to collect dozens of exclusive items across over 180 unique experiences on Roblox. Whose champion will reign supreme?"

RBXNEWS

There are four champions in total: AJ Striker, Fey Yoshida, Sparks Kilowatt, and Wren Brightblade—each hailing from a different part of the Roblox Metaverse. Roblox gamers must align themselves with one champion and help gather the most points for the faction.

The Rules

Each champion has their own Mystery Box that players must earn across the "180 unique experiences," which we assume are 180 different Roblox games. These experiences will be divided across the four-week event, and further divided by each Champion. So, don't fret: you will not be expected to play all 180 games.

Each week, Mystery Boxes will appear in new games for players to hunt down. At the end of the event, the faction that has collected the most Mystery Boxes wins the entire event.

Better yet: the players who collect all four of their respected champion's Mystery Boxes will receive the Champion as an Avatar Bundle. Meaning, if you collect all four of AJ Striker's Crate Drops, you can mix and match his outfit on your own Avatar. It is currently unknown if you can collect all four of the Champions.

What about Egg Hunt 2021?

Well, it appears this is Egg Hunt 2021, albeit with a new coat of paint. Weeks ago, whispers across Roblox rumored that Egg Hunt 2021 was cancelled, prompting us to question what Metaverse Champions even meant. With the Easter holidays come and gone, the Metaverse Champions is clearly the major Spring event that has been prioritized since calls for developers went out in December 2020.

So, is Egg Hunt 2021 officially cancelled? Yes and no.

There will not be new eggs to collect this year, that much is for sure. But, the thrill of the hunt still lives on in the new Metaverse Champions event. Instead of eggs, players must hunt Mystery Boxes throughout numerous Roblox games.

Avatar accessories are also promised in this event, though we don't know if there will be more items to unlock beyond the champion outfits. With over 180 experiences promised, who knows?
