To find Petalcap in New World, you will need to go north from First Light and search along the border of both First Light and Windsward. Along the border of both regions, you can find tons of Petalcap, as shown by the image below.
You will need to gather around 12 of these petalcap to help complete the quest Weakness of the Ego - you will also need to get Rivercrest to complete this quest, which also gives water mote when gathered.
If you need to get Rivercrest, you can get it from the ends of rivers in the game. You will also need to have at least a flint sickle to gather the plant, if you don't have one already, you can make one at a campfire or work station in a settlement - crafting a sickle will require the following resources in the game.
- One flint
- One Green Wood
Once you got the required amount of both Rivercrests and Petalcaps, you will be able to complete the quests. But as a side note, you can also use the Rivercrest to make several items in the game that include the following
- Elemental Heart
- Weak Oakfish Balm
- Cut Flawed Aquamarine
- Water Wisp
