A player rating update was released in NBA 2K23 at the end of January that crowns a new top-rated player and changes up the top ten players in the game. An earlier January update boosted Luka Dončić and Nikola Jokić to 97 overall, tying them with the highest-rated player Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The new January 26 update has crowned LeBron James as the highest-rated player with a 98 overall rating. LeBron received a +2 boost after outstanding games in January, averaging 33.6 points, 9.4 rebounds, and eight assists during the month up to the update's release.

Star Center Joel Embiid went up one point, tying him for the second-highest overall rating. Significant rating changes also include Nets Center Nicolas Claxton boosted up five points to put him at 85 Overall, Jrue Holiday boosted one point to an 87 Overall, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander up one point to 93 Overall.

While LeBron has regained the top spot in the player ratings, there are many players putting up amazing performances. As the season continues on, expect a few more top ten changes, and many player rating adjustments.
