Mortal Kombat 1 is the latest iteration of the most brutal fighting franchise ever to grace the world of gaming and has been my favorite fighting game since the days of arcades. Today, we will take a sneak peek into the main bad guy of Mortal Kombat 1.
Who is the final boss of the Mortal Kombat 1 story mode?
The final boss to be defeated in the climactic last battle in Mortal Kombat 1 is Shang Tsung, in a tag team with Quan Chi. As we can observe from the beginning of the main storyline, the narrative takes a new approach, following Shang Tsung's origin and eventual rise to power thanks to Damashi.

The veterans of the franchise will remember that Shang Tsung was the main antagonist of the original Mortal Kombat game, so it was no surprise that he is the final challenger in Mortal Kombat 1 as well. Despite being a soft reboot of the franchise, Mortal Kombat 1 ties into the previous part's ending, creating a new timeline due to the earlier events.
Mortal Kombat 1 ending explained
The story of Mortal Kombat 1 reaches an ending where all the greatest characters of the Mortal Kombat franchise team up against Shang Tsung, who then opens the inter-dimensional rift, introducing strange evil fusions of the already-existing characters. As the battle climaxes, your chosen character faces Shang Tsung and Quan Chi at the top of the pyramid. With the help of Liu Kang, the duo of evil wizards are defeated, but the inter-dimensional rift destabilizes, and Liu Kang gets transported back into his original dimension.
