Mortal Kombat 1 – All characters, all Kameos, platforms, & more!

Round 1! Fight!

Mortal Kombat 1 is the newest entry in the long-running Mortal Kombat series. Since then, it has been my obsession, so I watched the premiere in May at the edge of my seat! Mortal Kombat 1 looks like a bold and unique approach to resetting the series, and I cannot wait to dive into the bloody details of this game.

Why is it called Mortal Kombat 1 and not Mortal Kombat 12?

As previously hinted by Ed Boon on his Twitter page @noobde, the franchise is set to skip the 12th installment, instead opting for a complete reboot of the series. Mortal Kombat 1 follows a reboot of the MK universe by Liu Kang, rewriting the events and stories of the series.

Liu Kang has created his own universe, giving characters new backstories, roles, friendships, and more. You'll have to play through the story mode of Mortal Kombat 1 to experience the new world and its differences, but I cannot wait to discover how Fire God Liu Kang has reshaped Mortal Kombat.

Mortal Kombat 1 Kameo fighters, explained

One thing that caught my eye back when I first saw the trailer was the introduction of the new Kameo system in Mortal Kombat 1. This new system works as a tag team mode where players can summon one of the iconic characters from the vast history of the franchise. These characters can assist you in combat directly, both in offense and defense, and even pull off Fatalities in tandem with your character.

Mortal Kombat 1 Invasion Mode, explained

A new mode is launching with Mortal Kombat 1, called Invasion. Invasion plays like a board game RPG, where you progress through a series of levels, almost like Mario Party. You'll stop and face various challenges, including mini-games, fights with additional rules, and more. Invasion mode looks like a fun single-player mode that distracts from hardcore battles.
