Minecraft is all the rage with millions of players worldwide, being the most loved sandbox game due to its customization options and expansive, beautiful worlds that can be created. But many like to take their creativity to the next level by installing texture and shader packs to make their game look even more realistic. Optifine is one of the most popular mods and the one I personally can't live without, as it boosts my FPS levels and makes the game look realistic at the same time. This guide will show you how to install OptiFine for Minecraft 1.20 Java and Bedrock editions.
Installing OptiFine mod for Minecraft 1.20 Java
OptiFine is a third-party application you must install separately from your main game. But don't let that discourage you, as it is perfectly safe for your system and easy to do. Follow the steps below:
- Download OptiFine 1.20 Instance from the official OptiFine Download page.
- Locate OptiFine Installer.exe in your downloads folder and double-click to begin the installation.
- Click Install to begin the installation. This process should be fairly short.

Setting up Minecraft to run with OptiFine
Once OptiFine is installed on your system, you must set it up before running your game on your Minecraft Launcher. Follow the steps below:
- Start the Minecraft Launcher.
- Select Minecraft: Java edition in the side menu.
- Navigate to the Installations tab on the upper menu section.
- Select the version of OptiFine that you just installed from the list, then select Play.
After you perform the necessary steps, you should have Minecraft 1.20 with OptiFine mod up and running without issues. The only thing remaining for you is to test it by loading up some of our awesome 1.20 version seeds and enjoying wonderful natural creations!
