Minecraft 1.20 brought new goodies like new armor trims, archeology features, sniffers, and a host of new textures that made me update my favorite texture packs to keep me enjoying the game. If you're in the same boat, here are the best Minecraft 1.20 texture packs you should try!
Best texture packs for Minecraft 1.20
These texture packs for Minecraft 1.20 offer something for everyone, from vanilla purists to hardcore modders. I advise using OptiFine with each pack to get the best results.
SapixCraft for Minecraft 1.20
SapixCraft is a cartoony texture pack that's adorable and fun. Honestly, we don't love all the cute eyes on every creature, but for some of them, they really work. This is the perfect pack if you're looking for a cute cartoon style in 1.20!
Depixel for Minecraft 1.20
Depixel takes the base Minecraft textures and almost doubles the default number of pixels in them, giving you a high-fidelity look that is still faithful to the vanilla appearance of Minecraft. It can be a bit uncanny, but we really enjoy seeing these upgrades. It kinda reminds us of the difference between Doom and Quake in how the fidelity is upped, but the feel is the same!
RealisCraff JE Resource Pack for Minecraft 1.20
RealisCraff adds some HD textures that toe the line between realistic and faithful to vanilla. This is the kind of texture pack for those who want something upgraded from base Minecraft, but don't want to lose too much of the original charm.
Pixlli Resource Pack for Minecraft 1.20
With so many new blocks in Minecraft 1.20, you need a texture pack that enhances them. That's why I went with Pixlli for one of our first worlds when 1.20 was released. It adds a lot of depth to the new blocks, making them pop out while retaining the atmosphere of Minecraft's base game.
Bare Bones for Minecraft 1.20
You'd think Minecraft graphics couldn't get simpler, but you'd be very wrong. The Bare Bones texture pack retains the vanilla style but reduces the textures' complexity, making the game look even simpler and cartoon-like, and in the best way possible!
rotrBLOCKS Resource Pack for Minecraft 1.20
rotrBLOCKS is another pack that is faithful to the original look of Minecraft but nonetheless adds a lot of depth and realism with its 3d and expanded items. Upgraded for 1.20, we recommend using this pack to get some more life out of Minecraft.
Misa's Realistic Resource Pack for Minecraft 1.20
Mixing realism and blocky graphics rather peculiarly, Misa's Realistic Resource Pack makes Minecraft look darker and edgy. Colors are desaturated, and the vanilla pixelated textures have been replaced by their more realistic counterparts, which makes certain creatures like creepers and spiders look like they came straight out of a horror game. This one's an acquired taste.
Jicklus Resource Pack for Minecraft 1.20
Jicklus is a pair of texture packs that enhance Minecraft with a unique style, giving it a warmer and more epic atmosphere. We recommend using this one with shaders, which really enhance the light hitting these textures.
Xray Ultimate for Minecraft 1.20
Xray Mods are almost as old as Minecraft, and while they’re pretty frowned upon—especially in multiplayer servers—they do have some legitimate use. Regardless, if you’re going to use an xray texture pack, we recommend the best, so check out Xray Ultimate.
Tooniverse texture pack for Minecraft 1.20
Originally known as Postercraft, the Tooniverse texture pack is arguably the most cartoony Minecraft texture pack out there. Everything in the game has received a vibrant and joyful makeover, from weapons, armor, and creatures to surface textures, items, and skyboxes. Just make sure to turn down the brightness on your screen, or else you'll burn out your retina.

Luna HD for Minecraft 1.20
We have a soft spot for these hyper-realistic texture packs, and Luna HD is one of the best. What's fantastic about this pack is when you use it for more modern or contemporary builds, where its clean lines and modern feel make it look like you've just made something using architectural software!
Digs’ Simple Resource Pack for Minecraft 1.20
Sometimes simple is best, and that's definitely the case with Digs' Simple Resource Pack. If you've ever wondered what could be more simple than base Minecraft, it's this. We love how low-key all these designs are, and honestly prefer it to some of the base Minecraft textures!
Faithless Resource Pack 1.20 for Minecraft 1.20
Faithless Resource Pack almost feels like a throwback texture pack - like something from 2013, not 2023, but that's not a bad thing. There's a simple charm about this that I love and think you'll love, too!
Yuusha Resource Pack 1.20 for Minecraft 1.20
Yuusha Resource Pack is what Minecraft looks like when you dream about the game. It's washed out and lo-fi, and I adore how it looks. This is one of those texture packs where you activate it, set the game to peaceful, and let the world pass you by.
