Loot River features many ways to increase your odds of survival as you explore its procedurally generated dungeons. This includes weapons, spells, and Hats. These act as accessories that grant you bonuses to armor and unique effects. This may leave you wondering how to unlock and equip Hats in Loot River.

Hats are a headgear you can unlock in Loot River by speaking to Emmet. This is one of many NPCs in the game found at the Sanctuary. But Emmet is not there at the start and must be rescued before you can purchase Hats.

How to rescue Emmet in Loot River

To rescue Emmet in Loot River, you must find him in the First City, the second area in the game. As Loot River uses procedural dungeons, his location will be different each time. We found him at the center of numerous platforms halfway through the area. This will also earn you the Bravery achievement.

How to equip Hats in Loot River

Once you rescue Emmet, he will return to the Sanctuary and act as a Hat vendor. You can purchase Hats using Knowledge. Once you purchase a Hat, you can equip it immediately. In future runs, Hats are found as random drops from enemies, meaning you must rely on RNG.
