How to successfully start out in Ixion?

Ixion is a space station simulation and survival game. The key to succeeding in the campaign lies in resource and time management. Most importantly, to start the game properly, you need to understand the game's core mechanics. These will determine your priorities and how you play the game to survive.

5. Be mindful of the time

You can control the flow of time in Ixion. This tool is handy because you can play the game at your own pace and be more meticulous. The essential advice here is to avoid rushing the meter. Always keep a close eye on all the events that are happening. You initiated science research. Before you hit that speed-up button, have you checked your resource stockpile levels? Your power management? Try to stay on top of things at all times, and this game mechanic will benefit you greatly. Patience is vital in Ixion.

4. Constantly build roads

Roads are a key to survival in the game. They cost no building resources and are vital to keeping your buildings connected, especially resource stockpiles. You can make them a bit messy initially and permanently remove and reposition them later.

3. Keep the Hull Integrity secure

The hull integrity is a station's lifeline, constantly degrading throughout the game. If the integrity reaches zero, Tiqqun will be destroyed. To keep it repaired, you will need a steady supply chain of Alloys from Iron. You can mine Iron from the asteroids. EVA Airlock is a building you can use for hull repair and installing solar panels and engines. To maintain hull integrity, build an EVA Airlock, and connect it to an active alloy stockpile by a road.

2. Power management

A steady power supply is vital to keeping the Tiqqun in a running state. Losing power in any Sector stops hull repairs, and your Stability will take a hit. Stability is your crew's overall mood; if it gets too low, the game will penalize you with permanent sanctions. To avoid a downward spiral from there, you'll want to secure the Power supply at all costs by ensuring you have enough Solar panels set up to distribute the power evenly throughout all Sectors.

1. Stability management

Stability and Trust are the two measurements that represent your relationship with the Ixion's crew. You can maintain them by catering to their basic needs, like providing shelter, food, medical aid, and solving various problems in the Sector. Failing to maintain good Stability and Trust values will lead to the game over quickly, so always be on the lookout for the crew's needs. You can introduce two improvements to Stability in Ixion, permanent and temporary.

  • Permanent Stability improvement: The way to increase Stability permanently is by building these types of buildings in a Sector:
    • Legislative Strengthening Center
    • Memorials
    • Alternative Life Center
  • Temporary Stability improvement: These improvements only work for a period and must be maintained constantly:
    • Solving Food shortages
    • Solving Homelessness
    • Improving Working Conditions
    • Providing Health amenities
