The Horizon series has been one of my favorite series to play on PlayStation, with Horizon: Forbidden West being an incredible sequel. That said, I enjoyed installing and using mods in Horizon: Zero Dawn once it was ported to PC, leaving me hopeful the sequel will also be ported to PC and allow players to create and use mods. That said, let's look to see if Horizon: Forbidden West is being ported to PC.
Will Horizon Forbidden West be playable on PC?
While there was no announcement of this at launch, Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition will be available on PC in early 2024, as reported by PlayStation Twitter. The Complete Edition will include the base game and the Burning Shores DLC. Players can purchase it on Steam and Epic Games thanks to a partnership with Nixxes Software, which ported and optimized Insomniac's Spider-Man to PC.
Release: What does pressing R3 do in Horizon Forbidden West?
The original title, Horizon Zero Dawn, was added to Steam and GOG (Galaxy of Games) libraries for PC users to enjoy. However, a key thing to remember is that its release was three years after its console counterpart. Zero Dawn was released for PS4 in 2017 and for PC in 2020. So it seems that Horizon: Forbidden West is following suit.
Horizon: Forbidden West Complete Edition is also launching on PS5, though this comes sooner than the PC port on October 6, 2023. These days, companies are often contracted to have releases come out on one console first to prioritize certain players. As a result, it makes sense the PS5 will receive the Complete Edition first, then a PC launch after.
