There is plenty to do around the world of Hogwarts Legacy, inside and outside of Hogwarts. From puzzles to the main story, you'll be kept busy nonstop, and don't forget there are a plethora of side quests to embark on. With a map this big, you'll need plenty of time to adventure around, which is why it's great that even if you choose to prioritize your main story quests, you won't have to worry about missing out on a thing.
Can side quests expire in Hogwarts Legacy?
The shield icon and gray markers on your map and compass indicate all the side quests around. You can also find a list of all of them in your quests menu under the same symbol with slightly more information. Occasionally you might also get an owl post from someone to complete a side quest, although most of them will require you to speak to the individual to begin.
Some side quests don't open up until you reach a specific part of the main story or discover a new location. Your side quests will stay in your quest menu until you can get to them. So even if you decide to head off and complete some other tasks, they will be there when you are ready.
Some quests may also not be available during the particular season you are in. However, don't worry about missing out on anything. Even if you reach a specific season and notice a quest isn't available at that time, all side quests will be available again when you finish the story and reach Free Roam mode.
Side quests are great for earning some unique rewards, some extra Galleons, or even some XP to level up. Some of these quests are even considered relationship quests because they determine your standing with your peers around Hogwarts. There are plenty of quests to discover, so keep your eyes peeled for that little gray shield marker.
