Genshin Impact is taking its first plunge into the world of Esports by partnering up with GinxTV to host the University Invitational UK, a tournament open to all students studying in colleges in the United Kingdom. The event boasts a compelling prize pool valued at 11,000 GBP in cash plus merch and in-game inclusions, which three lucky teams can bag after winning a series of Genshin Impact challenges.
The event schedule is as follows:
- Stage 1: Team Registration and Selection (Online) May 9, 2022, to May 16, 2022
- Stage 2: Qualifiers (Local University Divisions) May 16, 2022, to May 20, 2022
- Stage 3: Finals (Live from London) May 28, 2022
Interested teams can head to the official event page to register, while non-qualifying individuals may vote for teams that they'd like to see in the qualifiers. Each team must represent a United Kingdom-based university and have three members, one of which can be an alumnus.
Team Registration
Teams from each of the nine official university teams can register for the respective divisions. Four teams from each division will make it to the qualifiers:
- University College London
- King's College London
- Imperial College London
- Queen Mary University of London
- London Southbank University
- University of Roehampton
- University of Surrey
- Brunel University London
- University of Warwick
Meanwhile, students from universities not listed above can also participate under the Social Team division. Only one Social Team will be chosen, and they will head straight to the finals based on the popular vote. All students must be based in the United Kingdom as some events will occur live. Genshin Impact will cover the Social Team's transportation costs for the finals—but again, everyone must still be based in the United Kingdom.
