Genshin Impact leaks showcase Sumeru map area, size, topography, and more

We're getting closer and closer to Sumeru!

Early leaks revealed that Sumeru, the nation of wisdom, is slated to release in Version 3.0, which is expected to come directly after Version 2.8. With only two updates before the big release, Genshin Impact's army of leakers have been actively scrounging for and sharing information about Sumeru's map area, size, topography, and other characteristics that can help players visualize what the nation could be like.

A post shared by Twitter user @SusAmongusLeaks reveals what is allegedly the concept art from the upcoming beta test, which has yet to receive a public release date. The green blocks indicate the area supposedly occupied by Sumeru, while the extension on the left possibly reveals the locations of the remaining three nations: Fontaine (closest to Celestia), Natlan (by the volcano), and Snezhnaya (the ice field).

Sumeru is the nation of wisdom, reigned by the Archon that its residents lovingly call Lesser Lord Kusanali. At the pinnacle of its hunger for knowledge is the Sumeru Academia, which is regarded as the most prestigious institution in all of Teyvat. An exploration video and grayscale of the nation were posted at the start of 2022, showcasing an ascension toward what could possibly be the Academia at the highest point of Sumeru City.

A newer leak claims that Sumeru may house a temple next to a port located west of Watatsumi Island. If this information is accurate, then the port would align within the lower green block in the map above. This could open up two routes to Sumeru: one from Liyue and one from Inazuma.

Based on information from @genshinBLANK (posted on Discord and crossposted on Reddit), the entirety of Sumeru will be far larger than Liyue and will be released in parts like Inazuma. The first release in Version 3.0 may bring players an exploration area about 50 to 75 percent the size of Liyue.

In terms of topography, @Ubatcha1 stated that Sumeru may consist of rainforest and desert areas that aren't separated, so players could expect drastic environmental changes while exploring. The information about the nation's topography aligns with the information provided by NPC Liben, who also stated that Sumeru has become a dangerous place. Additionally, Sumeru may house some swampy areas, according to an analysis of terrain data by Reddit user u/PM_ME_YOUR_ROBOTGIRL.

The private beta test for Genshin Impact Version 2.9, which contains the Sumeru patch, has allegedly begun. This number is likely a placeholder for Version 3.0, as with what happened during the jump from Version 1.6 to 2.0 in the Inazuma update. But the public beta test, where more accurate leaks usually stem from, has yet to receive a release date. Clearer information about Sumeru may come to light once leakers get ahold of the public beta client.
