A Korean commercial for Final Fantasy XIV has lit a spark in the minds of fans and players everywhere. The anime-style commercial has offered a glimpse of what a full-length anime based on the popular MMO would look like, and fans want more.
Posted on the Korean Final Fantasy XIV YouTube channel, the trailer shows off a lot of common features of FFXIV. From Trials to crafting, gathering, free company housing, mounts, and even a Lalafell dressed in full frog-suit glamour, there’s a lot covered in this animated short. And Twitter exploded with fans who are desperate for more.
Honestly, this is such a brilliant advertisement for FFXIV. As obviously the most anime-adjacent MMO, it feels like the game is almost tailor-made to be adapted into an animated series. But for now, this is part of an aggressive marketing campaign Square Enix is running in South Korea.

This promotion is pushing sign-up bonuses, merchandise, and in-game rewards for joining, and seems to point to a huge campaign to promote the game in one of the biggest MMO markets in the world. So while sadly, an FFXIV anime is still a pipe dream for now, this unique and incredibly intricate advertisement is definitely an indication of the health of the game and its growth.
And who knows? If the game stays popular as an IP, maybe Square Enix will try and capitalize with an anime down the line!
