In Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.35 a new relic grind was added for Crafters and Gathers. Following up from Mastercraft Tools, Skysteel Tools, and Resplendent Tools, Splendorous Tools are a several-stage grind for high item level tools. Here’s your full guide to crafting and creating your own Splendorous Tools.
What are Splendorous Tools in FFXIV?
Splendorous Tools are a series of relic tools added in patch 6.35. These tools aren’t always the best-in-slot (BiS) for each Crafter and Gatherer, but they have pretty high item levels and good stats. What’s more, they’re a great way to fill time between patches and are a prestige item to show off, thanks to their shining appearance at the highest levels.
All Splendorous Tools quest steps (Patch 6.45)
Below we’ve detailed all the Splendorous Tool quest steps. We also included details on unlocking the Splendorous Tools quests.
Splendorous Tools
The starting point for this relic tool grind, Splendorous Tools are iLvl 570 tools that can be obtained for free once you’ve started the Splendorous Tool quest line. After you’ve completed the quest An Original Improvement, you'll receive a Splendorous Coffer. Using this item transforms it into a tool corresponding to the user's current class.
Splendorous Tools for the remaining Crafting and Gathering classes can be obtained from Quinnana in the Crystarium (X: 10.4 Y: 7.8) for 1,500 White Crafters Scrips. There are no extra steps here, and your next step is to augment this base tool.

Augmented Splendorous Tools
Augmented Splendorous Tools are the next step of the relic grind. These iLvl 590 tools are the start of the real grind and the first upgrade in the process. For Crafters, this means crafting the one-star collectibles listed by Quinnana at The Crystarium (X: 10.4, Y: 7.8). You’ll need to earn 90 Splendorous Components.
For Gatherers, it means gathering one-star collectibles from gathering points around the world. In the Gatherers grind, you’ll need the following:
- 50 Splendorous Components (Miner’s/Botanist’s)
- Either 180 Splendorous Water (Botanist) Shards or 180 Splendorous Earth Shards (Miner)
Fishers will need the following:
- 60 Splendorous Rod Components
- 60 Splendorous Reel Components
Once you’ve reached the required items, hand them, with your Splendorous Tool unequipped, to Chora-Zoi to receive an Augmented Splendorous Tool.

Crystalline Tools are the final step of the Patch 6.35 Splendorous Tools quests. These are Item Level 620, Relic items that glow. They’re a unique design and the first of the Glowing Splendorous Tools.
To unlock them, Crafters will need to be crafting the two-star collectibles listed by Quinnana at The Crystarium (X: 10.4, Y: 7.8). You’ll need to earn 90 Adaptive Components.
For Gatherers, it means gathering one-star collectibles from gathering points around the world. In the Gatherers grind, you’ll need the following:
- 210 Adaptive Components (Miner’s/Botanist’s)
- Either 210 Adaptive Lighting Shards (Botanist) or 180 Adaptive Fire Shards (Miner)
Fishers will need the following:
- 80 Adaptive Fishing Rod Components

Once you’ve reached the required items, hand them, with your Augmented Splendorous Tool unequipped, to Chora-Zoi to receive a Crystalline Tool.
Chora-Zoi's Crystalline Tools (Patch 6.45)
These are the fourth step and third upgrade for Splendorous tools, added in Patch 6.45. Here are the requirements:
Crafters:
- Craft 30 of the third-tier tool-specific collectibles at maximum collectability and trade them to Quinnana to receive 90 customized components.
Gatherers:
- You will require 210 hidden items located at the same nodes the collectibles are located at.
- You will require 210 collectible reward items. These are acquired by turning in the collectibles to Quinnana.
- Alternatively, collectible reward items can now also be obtained through Aetherial Reduction, yielding either 3 or 6 items at 1000 collectability. This means that the reward item quota is fulfilled faster that way.
Future Splendorous Tools quest steps (Patch 6.55 and beyond)
Splendorous Tools will receive expanded steps in Patch 6.55. It’s likely there will be between four and nine additional steps, depending on how many steps are added to each level. These will include new materials and new craftable items. This article will be updated as the steps continue!
