It’s time to start letting those creative juices flow as Final Fantasy XIV announces the Furnishing Design Contest 2022. First revealed on December 17 on the official Final Fantasy XIV Twitter, the Furnishing Design Contest 2022 gives you the chance to design and create a piece of furniture that will feature in Final Fantasy XIV.
In the contest, FFXIV developer Square Enix stresses that “entries are not judged strictly on appearance, but by the heart and soul of each design.” This is to encourage artists and creators of all skill levels to participate. FFXIV doesn’t want you to drop them off a finished 3d model ready to put in the game. They want you to create an incredible design that people can use in their houses!

In the past, winners of the competition, which has run for several years, have designed everything from ornamental pillars and functional tables to even strange pipework that juts out of your building. There’s no theme for this contest apart from “Create a furnishing item you would like for your house!” Which sounds like a blank slate if we’ve ever heard one.
Winners will receive the Great Paraserpent fashion item and, presumably, a free copy of the in-game item. Winners aren’t guaranteed to have their design put into the game, however.
