Since you're a vet, you probably already know that arcane casters, throughout the Diablo series, have famously always been extremely powerful due to their versatile magic. Options are the name of the game for solo play, and the Sorcerer has everything you can possibly need in their overloaded kit. Yes, even self-healing. However, know that Sorcerers are flimsy. Without proper cooldown use and movement, you'll be overwhelmed very fast, which is why I don't recommend this class to players just starting out.
