If you are like us, then you probably are always wondering exactly how much time you have spent playing a game, or even more important, how much of that time was wasted. With a game like Destiny 2, there's potential to spend hundreds of hours fighting the darkness and even more potential to waste hundreds of hours. Luckily for the curious Guardians, there is a way to check these statistics. Here is how to find out your total time wasted on Destiny and Destiny 2.
How to check your total time played and time wasted in Destiny and Destiny 2
If you've been playing Destiny since 2014, there's a good chance you have no conceivable idea just how long you spent in the game. Varying platforms and the lack of an in-game time tracker means that you can only estimate how much time has been spent among the stars.
While there is no in-game tracker for time played, there is a very convenient website that will break down just how much time was spent playing, and how much of it was wasted. The website, aptly named Wasted on Destiny, asks you to input your Bungie account name, and will automatically pull up the statistics associated with that account for both Destiny and Destiny 2. A perfect tool to access when you are waiting for that weekly maintenance to end!

What kind of information does Wasted on Destiny tell you?
Once you input your username or anyone else's username, the results will show you all of the playtime stats and different classes associated with that account. It will also show two separate sets of data if the account being searched played both Destiny and Destiny 2. It will tell you your total playtime on each game, where your playtime ranks percentage-wise with other players, as well as the total time wasted on each game. It will even break down how much time was spent on each character the account has created as well as how much time was spent on each activity.
The most interesting piece of info is the Time Wasted statistic. This will tell you how much time you have spent playing on characters that are now deleted. For some players, this stat will be extremely low, as they have been using the same three characters since launch. For others such as myself, I find this stat to be quite high. This is because I like to delete a character and create a new one in order to play through all of the game's expansions once again.
Regardless of what your statistics tell you, it is interesting to learn your total playtime for both games as well as just how much time has gone down the drain due to deleted characters. Although for some players like myself, you may be more depressed to learn that your time wasted is just a few dozen hours behind your total time played.
