The Glaive is a very versatile weapon in Destiny 2. Not only can you use it to attack, but you can also defend yourself with it. Use the alternate fire button on your device to trigger the Glaive Shield. When activated, this shield will block a certain amount of damage from incoming attacks for a short period of time.

When you equip your Glaive in Destiny 2, you will notice a small, semi-circular bar right below your crosshair. This bar recharges with every successful hit with the Glaive. Once this bar is full, you will be able to deploy the Glaive Shield. There is also a flip side to this. You will have to keep dealing damage while the shield is up if you want the shield to stay. If you stop dealing damage, then the shield will deplete after a short period of time. You will have to recharge it before it fills up again.
Even though its an offensive weapon for the most part, your Glaive can be turned into a defensive one by equipping appropriate mods. There are a few dedicated Glaive mods that we have this season. The Unflinching Glaive mod can help make your Glaive a defensive one.
