Abilities form the core of how a Guardian's subclass plays in Destiny 2. With Lightfall's Strand, the options are somewhat limited, but picking the right abilities can make or break a build. For each of these ability selections to work, we highly recommend checking out the full build guides for Hunters, Titans, and Warlocks.

Hunter Strand Abilities
- Silkstrike: Weave a vicious rope dart and tear through your targets.
- Swing the rope dart in front of you to deal damage. The tip of the dart deals bonus damage, and defeating targets with the tip causes them to explode.
- Swing the rope dart in a circular motion to deal heavy damage all around you.
- Marksman's Dodge: Dodge to perform an evasive maneuver with a steady hand. Dodging automatically reloads your weapon.
- Threaded Spike: Throw a rope dart that bounces between targets, damaging and severing them. The dart will return to you once it's done, returning melee energy to you for each target hit. Catch the dark just as it gets back to you to increase the amount of energy returned.
- Grapple: Weave a grappling hook, and quickly pull yourself forward. Grappling to a Tangle immediately recharges your grenade energy. During and shortly after grappling, your melee attack deals area damage and unravels targets.
Titan Strand Abilities
- Bladefury: Create two woven blades and roam the battlefield.
- Towering Barricade: Create a large barrier that can be used to reinforce a position with cover from enemy fire.
- Frenzied Blade: Activate your charged melee ability to dash forward, slashing at targets in front of you and severing them.
- Shackle Grenade: A thrown weapon of weighted Strand matter that detonates on impact, suspending targets and creating additional suspending subprojectiles.
Warlock Strand Abilities
- Needlestorm: Conjure a hail of deadly woven needles. After embedding themselves in the environment, the needles will re-weave into a host of Threadlings. Threadlings you create will return to you and perch if they can't find any nearby targets. Damaging targets with your weapons or melee will send out perched Threadlings to attack.
- Healing Rift: Conjure a well of power that continuously heals those inside it.
- Arcane Needle: Sling a woven needle that will embed in your target, unraveling them. Activate your melee ability again to chain up to two additional attacks.
- Threadling Grenade: A woven projectile that reweaves itself into Threadlings while in flight.
