Dead Island 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the zombie-slaying franchise, is set to release on April 21, 2023, and fans are eagerly waiting to get their hands on it. To whet their appetites, Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios have released an extended gameplay trailer that offers long, uncut sequences of gameplay and spotlights all the gruesome enemy types players will encounter in the game, including ridiculously huge and loud undead.
Dead Island 2 trailer teases the ultimate zombie apocalypse experience
The 14-minute video features a long, uncut sequence of gameplay, allowing players to get a good look at the different enemy types and gore features. Players also get a good understanding of one of the game's protagonists, Irish-born Dani who has a strange sense of humor and a quick tongue. The trailer also showcases a vast array of weapons and skill cards, giving players the tools to take on all sorts of undead hordes as well as the FLESH system, an all-new procedural dismemberment system that makes each zombie kill a gory and satisfying affair.
But what sets Dead Island 2 apart from other zombie games is its arcade-like combat and cartoonish weapons. The side character survivors are ridiculous, but they pair well with the game's overall tone. The trailer showcases some of the adventures players will come across when traveling through Beverly Hills, with the gameplay specifically showcasing Dani's trek to the Helperin Hotel.
