The first turning point in the Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty story happens during the "Firestarter" quest. After you've made it through Kurt Hansen's interrogation, you'll be reunited with Songbird in the lab. This is where you must decide whether to stay and help her escape, or go with Reed's plan to bring her to justice for her crimes against the NUSA.
Should you help Songbird escape or help Reed capture her?
As mentioned before, the choices here are crucial and will determine how the Phantom Liberty questline ends for you. While the choice is entirely yours, I've discussed and explained all the possible outcomes of your decision (spoilers ahead!).
Help Songbird Escape
If you decide to stay with Songbird and help her escape, she'll access the Blackwall and unleash its fury into the stadium. Alex then kills Colonel Kurt Hansen on your signal, after which you and So Mi will escape. Later on, both of you infiltrate the spaceport, and battle against NUSA operatives.
When you reach the spacecraft, So Mi reveals that she has betrayed you and there's only one cure, which is for her. Then, you can either help Songbird escape to the moon despite her betrayal or hand her over to Reed. If you choose the former option, you'll have to kill Reed and you'll return back to Night City after Songbird leaves.
If you choose to side with Reed, you'll have two options. You can either hand Songbird over to him with no conditions, or you can make a deal and ask for a cure in return. The former option returns you back to Night City where you're on your own. If you make a deal with Reed, you'll be treated. But when you return to Night City after spending two years in a coma, everything will change; you will no longer be a mercenary and the game will end. This is the new special ending for Cyberpunk 2077.

Help Reed Capture Songbird
If you go with Reed's plan to use the Icebreaker device, it fails to subdue Songbird, and she escapes without you. Meanwhile, Kurt Hansen kills your fellow FIA operative Alex. You then fight and kill the Colonel after which Reed rescues you. Mi is then captured by MaxTac forces.
You'll later find Songbird in very bad shape in a bunker under Dogtown. She'll beg you to finish her, but you have to decide whether to kill So Mi or bring her in alive. If you kill her, Reed and President Myers will be very displeased with you, but that's about it. On the other hand, you can keep her alive to receive treatment for your relic malfunction. Once again, this choice will lead you to the same special ending for Cyberpunk 2077, in which you return to Night City two years later in 2079.
