Monster-taming

Coromon and Pokémon are monster-taming games. You will battle with various creatures that you must first capture. You will raise these creatures up, gaining experience points that will level them up and cause them to evolve into new forms.

JRPG

Like Pokémon, Coromon is a turn-based JRPG where you and your opponent will take turns commanding your Coromon to attack. Each Coromon has stats and a selection of moves that aid them in battle. Coromon also has a type that determines their moves, weaknesses, and strengths.

Visuals

Coromon's pixel art visuals are reminiscent of earlier Pokémon games. The battle screens are also similar, with your Coromon being closer to you and the opposing Coromon being on the opposite side.

Difficulty Levels

A key difference in Coromon is the ability to select a difficulty level. Pokémon games do not have this option, meaning you will have to self-impose challenges on yourself to affect the difficulty. With these being built into Coromon, you can choose the type of experience and challenge you want.

Stat Customization

You can customize your Coromon's stats in addition to them increasing automatically upon leveling up. You gain skill points that you can use to increase any stat you want. This gives more options of how you want to build your team.

Multiple Saveslots

Coromon features three save slots. This means you can effectively have a playthrough with each starter. You can also try out multiple teams without having to restart your game. With multiple save slots, you have more freedom in playing the game.

Boss Battles

While the Pokémon series has legendary Pokémon, these can often be anti-climatic. Coromon looks to shake this up with boss battles. These are against Titans that cannot be captured and can easily wipe your whole team if you aren't prepared.

Stamina System

Coromon uses a similar battle style to Pokémon, but it does away with PP and uses stamina. Rather than each move being used several times, all moves share a stamina pool. Each move consumes stamina, and you can rest in battle, forgoing your turn to regain some stamina.
