Pollution is kind of a nebulous problem in Cities Skylines 2, with a different approach for different pollution types. Whether air, ground, water, or noise, you'll need to consider a variety of factors and solutions.
Installing more eco-friendly facilities, being mindful of location and zoning in your town, and even considering wind direction will help you reduce pollution. Here's all of the ways you can get a more clean city!
How do you remove pollution in Cities Skylines 2?
For a general type of pollution (often complained about by residents in their homes) problem in Cities Skylines 2, make sure you have placed residential zones further away from industrial zones and other medium-high pollution buildings. If you are looking to fix a more specific type of pollution, you'll need a more specialized solution.
How to remove ground pollution in Cities Skylines 2
Ground pollution is not too hard to get rid of in Cities Skylines 2. It usually just takes some tweaking and patience until you get it right. If you want to reduce ground pollution, you need to:
- Replace your current power with a Solar Power Plant (unlock in development tree)
- Move any building with high ground pollution away from your residential zones
- Place an Industrial Waste Processing Facility in your town (unlock in development tree)
How do you remove water pollution in Cities Skylines 2?
Water pollution and removal of it used to be more specialized in the first Cities Skylines game, but it is a little more generalized in Cities Skylines 2. That doesn't mean there aren't methods, though. If you want to get rid of water pollution, you should:
- Install a Wastewater Treatment Plant (unlock in development tree)
- Ensure proper placement of sewage pumps and lines
- Make sure your sewage and water pumps do not overlap, or your water pump will pull in sewage
How to remove air pollution in Cities Skylines 2
Air pollution can be fixed in Cities Skylines 2 in much the same way you can reduce other types of pollution, with one caveat. Wind and wind direction will also affect this pollution. Overall, to remove air pollution you can:
- Replace your current power with a Solar Power Plant (unlock in development tree)
- High pollution buildings, like Coal Power Plants, need to be kept away from city areas frequented by citizens.
- Pay attention to wind direction and place buildings in a way in which air pollution doesn't travel towards residents.
