Since releasing onto Playstation 22 years ago, fans have been patiently waiting for Square Enix to revisit the beautifully written tale of Chrono Cross in some way. Fortunately, according to some pretty exciting news revealed during the Feb. 2022 Nintendo Direct, long-time fans of the beloved game won’t have to wait much longer—Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is coming to the Nintendo Switch on April 7, 2022.
Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is a remaster of the 1999 Playstation classic, complete with a newly enhanced soundtrack and graphics. There will be some new features available, such as the ability to turn off enemy encounters. This remaster even includes Radical Dreamers, a text-based adventure based on Chrono Cross's origins, meaning you'll be able to experience the story in its entirety.

The story of Chrono Cross follows Serge, a teenage boy who becomes swept up in a story of parallel worlds and inter-dimensional threats. While attempting to uncover the truth of his past, Serge will gain many different allies to help him in his journey, each with their own rich backstories and motivations. There are a total 45 playable characters in Chrono Cross, meaning you'll have plenty of options for forming the perfect team.
Chrono Cross deals with the adult themes of death, loss, abandonment, and identity crisis in a way that doesn't feel exhausting while still allowing for the full weight of this emotional story to be felt.
