How many players can play Breakwaters?

Swim with a friend or two!

Breakwaters will release in early access on November 11, 2021. It features an oceanic world in which players will have to master the ways of water, swimming, and sailing if they wish to survive. Survival can be difficult, especially if you are alone. Fortunately, for players' chances of survival, Breakwaters features multiplayer so you can play with your friends.

You may be wondering how many players can play Breakwaters together. In a Steam discussion, developer Soaring Pixel Games have confirmed that four players can work together in Breakwaters at launch. They have also confirmed that one goal they plan to work on is increasing the number of players in a game.

They stated that four is the starting number because that is what they know can work. While they would like to increase this number, they are not sure if that is possible yet. Soaring Pixel Games would like to add as many players as can be supported, mentioning six or ten players possibly.

Even with four players, survival should be easier, and that many players will surely lead to some crazy interactions and shenanigans. With six or ten players, both of those statements should be even more true. Regardless, playing with friends in any way is always a good thing.
