Blacktail is a first-person adventure game where magic, a bow, and a cat are your only friends. As you forage the forest for resources, you will also come across hostile enemies, creatures, and carnivorous plants that wish to only do you harm. Dying can potentially mean losing a fair bit of progress and any resources or skills you may have unlocked. Thankfully, you can manually save your progress through checkpoints in the open world. Read on to find out how you can save your progress in Blacktail.
How to manually save the game in Blacktail
Save-game points in Blacktail work similarly to checkpoints. As you explore the world around you, you will come across Shrines. These Shrines can be activated by using a Red Herb, a resource also required for brewing recipes. Once you come across a Shrine, simply walk up to it and interact with it to place a Red Herb on the Shrine. Doing so will save your progress until that point. If you should die at any point in the game, you will be resurrected at the last Shrine you activated.

It is also worth noting that Blacktail does have an Autosave feature that saves your progress every time you quit the game by clicking Save and Quit. You can load up the game from the Autosave point or the manual save point by choosing the desired save file from the Load Game menu.
