One of the best ways to collect food in Ark Survival Ascended is to fish. Even though there are several methods to catch a fish in Ark Survival Ascended, The Island Map only allows you to hunt fish using a fishing rod and dinosaurs.

Best Fishing Techniques in Ark Survival Ascended
As mentioned earlier, there are several fishing techniques in the base game Ark Survival Ascended, like using a Fishing Net or Fishing Basket. But the current map (The Island) allows you to hunt fishing through two methods.
- Using a Fishing Rod
- Command Animals to hunt fish.

How to craft and use a Fishing Rod in Ark Survival Ascended
To craft a fishing rod in Ark Survival, you must be at least level 18. After reaching the required level, collect the following items to make one.
- x50 Fiber
- x20 Thatch
- x12 Wood
Since it's a primary item, you can easily craft the item on the go from your inventory. Remember, you cannot stand and fish in Ark Survival Ascended. So, you must make a wooden chair to sit and fish. You will require the following materials to make a wooden chair.
- x14 Fiber
- x18 Thatch
- x30 Wood
If you are not a fan of using a chair, you can craft a wooden bench or ride a creature like Pelagornis. For the bait, you can use Giant Bee Honey, Sap, or Leech Blood. You can find honey near any hilly terrain.
How to command Command Animals to hunt fish
If you are not a fan of hunting manually, you can always command one of your tamed animals like Ichthyornis. You can find the bird near any shore or beach area and knock them out using a bow & tranquilizer arrow. Feed fish or kibble to the bird to tame. After taming, open its access setting and change its behavior to Hunt and Retrieve. Choose a fish as its target, and it will hunt the fish for you.

Best Fishing Spots in Ark Survival Ascended
