With the addition of Ranked Play in Fortnite, players now have an intense drive to get to the top ranks and demonstrate their prowess. The road to betterment, however, may appear difficult to individuals who are unaware of where to start, leaving them feeling trapped and unable to advance. So, we created this guide to help you get better at Fortnite.
How can I get better at Fortnite?
Practice, Practice, Practice
Any sport demands a lot of practice and devotion to succeed. I completely get the difficulties in monitoring your development because I'm a fervent and competitive Fortnite player who has participated in a number of competitions. To continuously work on the same edits and perfect tried-and-true retakes may be demoralizing, but the results of your work will be well worth it! Adopt a comprehensive approach to training, concentrating on all facets of the game from improving your aim to mastering your movement and fine-tuning your building techniques. Always keep in mind making little adjustments in all areas can eventually help you become a tough opponent. So embrace the grind and repetition and watch yourself develop into a formidable force in the Fortnite universe.
Pick Keybinds and Stick With Them
The most crucial factor in picking your keybinds is to select something that feels comfortable to you. Consider previous games you've played and the keys you find most natural and convenient to press and work from there. For example, I based mine on playing tens of thousands of hours of CSGO. Keep in mind the best keybinds are those that enable simultaneous movement and building.
Get in as many fights as you can!
Experience is the best thing for you if you want to grow. Even though the game won't be enjoyable at first and you won't always win, the fighting experience is crucial in this game. Gaining battle experience is more preferable to waiting in bushes for the last opponent to arrive, because you will learn nothing from it. After you decide to prioritize fighting and experience above winning a match, you'll be able to view your progress! Alternatively, you can select a 1v1 map to get fighting experience more quickly and effectively. I've engaged in countless hours of 1v1 to become familiar with every playstyle of my rivals.

Land in Semi-Populated Areas
Getting into a lot of battles too fast is generally not going to help you improve. You aren't really learning anything if you don't even have time to collect more than one weapon before being eliminated, so you should go to some less inhabited places. Give yourself ample time to gather a few weapons and shields, and before a battle, think of the best ways to attack, and take your time to loot, protect yourself, and wait for the right opportunity.
Build, Build, Build
In Fortnite, building needs to be your best friend. Your success depends on your ability to box up and heal or ramp above the opposing player to get some good shots in. In Creative, practice drills and retakes to develop muscle memory. You must start at the beginning because Fortnite has so many unique mechanics: learn to build and edit first, then start learning a lot of new things once you feel more comfortable with these skills. I initially had trouble remembering all the keys to press and the timing, but after hours of practice, my muscle memory eventually took over, making improvement much simpler.
Always find out what the meta is!
You should always be among the first players to learn about the meta, including the best weapons, mobility, building strategies, or the most protective edits. There is always someone who will figure out the new meta before everyone else, whether it's your opponents or professionals, so you should always be online to search for it! Keep an eye out for anything that stands out and is superior to what other players do.

Gather Resources Constantly
Since you are building so much, you'll want to be gathering resources constantly. If you are rotating or moving towards an area, that's a great time for you to gather some wood and brick! You'll be amazed how quickly you are cycling through resources when you are engaging in battles. Make sure you are never in a position where you run out of resources and can't build, because you'll be naked without the ability to wall up!
Review Your Play
When someone is eliminated, all of us players will offer justifications, but we must realize we erred in some way. Either we were in a bad place, didn't have enough ammunition, didn't have enough builds, or we started a fight without having enough shields. You must consider all of this and make each improvement after being eliminated. Every professional is doing so for a reason; you can always do as they do and look back and find a solution to any mistake or lacking area.
Take a Break
If you are playing constantly and feel yourself starting to play poorly or are getting too angry at the game, then it's a good idea to step back and take a break. This can be as little as 10 minutes or as long as a day. Clear your mind and then head back into the game and you should start to feel things clicking again. Always remember this is a game at the end of the day, and you should be having fun!
