Following the course charted by this year's Festival of the Lost, Destiny 2's Dawning event now has a unique shader, or Memento. Getting it involves jumping through several hoops and then hoping luck is on your side.
A Memento is a unique type of shader that can only be applied to craftable weapons. On top of that, players can only carry one at a time, so once obtained, you better know where it's going so you have room for the next one.
Where to get the Rime Keepsake Dawning Memento in Destiny 2
To get the first Memento, players will need to get the Winter Night quest from Eva Levante in the Tower. Players must defeat enemies with snowballs, then Long Winter or Stay Frosty snowballs, and then bake a Classic Butter Cookie for the Space Grandma.
The snowball upgrades are purchased for 20 Dawning Spirit each. To make this a little more tolerable, I recommend equipping the Starfarer 7M ship which gives a Dawning Spirit for each ingredient found. Otherwise, bounties and event challenges will grant the holiday currency.

Once you have the first Memento out of the way, additional Mementos can be acquired by opening A Gift in Return. These are awarded for giving NPCs baked goods. These gifts aren't guaranteed to have a Memento but rather act as a form of loot box.
The Rime Keepsake Memento gives a slick coat of ice over the weapon. Thematically, it makes sense to put it on Stasis weapons, but you can blow minds by applying it to a Solar weapon like the Ammit AR2.
