The best way to obtain more pickaxes (hammers) in Monopoly GO is to hunt for event rewards. By naturally progressing through various events and getting quick wins, you will simultaneously be able to progress in Moonlight Treasures. You can also get a couple by reaching certain milestones. By reaching Milestone 3 in the Moonlight Treasures event, you will be awarded three additional pickaxes (hammers), including some cash.
Playing Monopoly GO a lot is the key to obtaining the most hammers, as, unfortunately, there is no effective shortcut or exploit to get a lot of them quickly. Considering the Moonlight Treasures event only lasts until December 13, we all better start grinding those challenges.
