The old loot pool has returned in Fortnite OG, and that means the Tactical and Pump Shotgun are back. If you can't decide between these powerful weapons, this guide will help you choose.
Fortnite Best Shotgun - Tactical vs Pump Action
An ongoing debate in the community is whether the Pump Shotgun is stronger than the Tactical Shotgun. One of the most important points is the rate of fire; the Tac is far more forgiving for missed shots, as you can shoot again quickly. Whiffing a shot with the Pump can be devastating because you'll have a bit of downtime before you can fire again.

What helps set the Pump apart from the competition is the fact it does over 200 damage at max rarity with a headshot. This is a one-shot elimination in the regular Battle Royale mode, but it's not enough to finish off an enemy in Zero Builds thanks to their shields. Tactical Shotguns do well too, but deal far less damage to both the head and body.
If I had to pick between the two, I'd say the Pump is a better option for players who can hit headshots with ease. The Tac will be better for people who aren't as confident in their accuracy. Both are fine guns, but if your main concern is raw power, then the Pump Shotgun is much stronger.
What's the best shotgun in Fortnite?
Fortnite eventually added more shotguns into the game like the Lever-Action and Double-Barrel, the latter of which will arrive in the November 9 update. With more shotguns in the loot pool, your decision is even harder.
The Pump will remain the strongest shotgun of them all, but each has its uses. Playing in a Squads game means a Tac Shotgun will be able to lay down suppressive fire, and that's something that can go a long way toward winning a fight.
