I hate Deserts the most in RPGs for the simple fact that they’re stupidly huge for no reason. The Cerulean Expanse is Sea of Stars’ mandatory desert area filled with nothing but sand, sand, and more sand. If you feel lost at any point, here’s a quick guide to get you out of there.
How to get out of the Cerulean Expanse in Sea of Stars
The key to navigating the Cerulean Expanse in the drone Serai takes with her in Repine. As you walk through the sand, the probe will beep in increasing frequency to let you know that there’s something hidden beneath it. The game will prompt you to dig when you're close!
Some parts will contain these compass-like machines with an orb lit. That’s the direction you need to take to get to the next area. The Cerulean Expanse is really expansive, so if you feel like you’re not making progress—you are!
By the way, there are a ton of other things buried beneath these sands aside from the machines, so be sure you pick them up before you move to the next area. You do NOT want to backtrack for them like I did. Usually, it’s crops or treasure!
How to find the Cerulean Expanse Rainbow Conch
After the events at Lost Ones Hamlet, you'll be able to spot this hooded figure in Repine Inn. He's going to give you a hint that will lead to a chain of quests that will net you nice, endgame rewards. If you don't find the Villager, bring Wheels to Repine to see if that triggers their appearance.

As implied by their muttering, from the first desert area in Cerulean Expanse, move South, Southwest, Southeast, then South again. This should lead you to a small oasis. Your Rainbow Conch is here, too.
Open all the chests and set up Camp in this specific spot. Speak to Serai at night to learn of another creature that plagues her people.
