When compared to Remnant 1, Remnant 2 doesn't seem to shower you with armor sets. In fact, armor in general has been devalued in Remnant 2 due to the lack of set bonuses attached. On one hand, this is a total bummer, as armor in Remnant 2 doesn't mean much more than a few basic stats. On the other hand, you can mix and match the best pieces together without needing to worry about matching for a set bonus. Need to know which armor sets are the best to use? If so, I've got you covered.
Strongest Armor Sets in Remnant 2 and how to get them
The following armor sets provide the best balance between damaged reduction and weight. Elemental Resistance will not be considered due to the importance of elemental resistance only for specific encounters and scenarios.
Nightstalker Armor
The Nightstalker Armor set provides the perfect balance between defense and mobility, with the full set giving you a modest amount of damage reduction while allowing you to retain a normal dodge roll. If you're looking to use a full set of the same armor, then the Nightstalker set is perfect for you.
All parts of the Nightstalker Armor can be purchased directly from Whispers in Ward 13.
Fae Royal Armor
This armor provides a significant amount of damage reduction through its high armor value. However, what makes this set so strong is the lower-than-average weight cost for heavy armor. Wearing the full set will still cause you to heavy roll, but the weight value is low enough that outside weight buffs, such as certain rings or the Challenger's Archetype trait, can easily put you back in the normal roll territory.
Fae Royal Armor can be found in the Postulant's Parlor side dungeon located within the Losomn. You'll need to open the door blocking the set by messing with the Tic Tac Toe present there.
Radiant Protector Armor
If you're looking for an armor set that ignores the weight cost associated with wearing it, then look no further than the Radiant Protect set. This set goes all in on pure defense and has no issue sacrificing mobility for pure tankiness.
The unfortunate part about this set is that it is only obtainable for those that purchased Remnant 2's Deluxe or Ultimate edition.
Technician Armor
The Technician Armor set has equal defense to the Radiant Protector set, making it the perfect replacement for tanky players looking to make themselves more beefy. While the resistances on the two sets are different, that hardly matters for most content. Tank players should definitely get their hands on this armor.
Technician Armor is obtainable on N'Erud, hidden within the poison gas that surrounds you. You'll first need to find an outstretched ledge and head right off the ledge until you see a dead man. Beside him will be the armor set.
Elder Armor
On the flip side, if you're looking to travel quite a bit lighter, then you're looking for a particular set of armor. Elder Armor is the polar opposite of Technician and Royal Protector armor, trading survivability for full-on mobility. It is the lightest armor you can wear without being completely naked. Be careful, though, because wearing this armor—while convenient for your mobility—offers almost no protection against Remnant 2's most deadly foes.
Sadly, Elder Armor is another set that is exclusive to Deluxe and Ultimate Edition owners. Whether or not there is an alternative has not yet been determined, but I'll be sure to keep you updated on that. Even so, remember that armor can be mixed and matched freely; don't let an armor set's negatives deter you from experimenting!
