If you’re on the road to getting the best weapon of Final Fantasy XVI (no matter what mode you’re playing in), then you’ll definitely encounter the Blacksmith Blue’s side quest. During the first part of this quest chain, you need to defeat a Griffin found flying near a river gate. Here’s where to find it and how to defeat it.
Where to find Dozmare the Griffin in FF16?
Dozmare the Griffin, your target mark for this quest, can be found near the Caer Norvent river gate. The fastest way to reach it is to fast travel to the Obelisk at Lostwing and ride your Chocobo southeast. Once you’re there, a cutscene will automatically trigger, letting you know you’ve found your mark.
How to defeat Dozmare the Griffin in Final Fantasy 16
Despite being a rank B, Dozmare the Griffin isn’t difficult to defeat if you play it safe. It uses only a couple of moves and does them slowly. Just be wary of its wind attacks (whose target area will be marked green) and its nosedive attack.
We all have different playstyles, but I found myself leaning more on Phoenix’s warp for this fight, plus a handful of melee attacks when I can get them in. When it’s staggered, cast Garuda’s tornado so it can chip its HP while you make more melee attacks.
Once you’ve defeated Dozmare, another cutscene will begin. The craftsman will provide you with a piece of leather you can show Blackthorn for inspiration. Not only will winning this battle help you complete the quest, but it will earn you renown as well. Visit The Patron’s Whisper to claim your reward.
