Final Fantasy 16 – A Bearer’s Lot Quest Guide

It's a sad tale.

If Final Fantasy XVI has one flaw, it’s the fact that it doesn’t have a minimap. And what map it does have is a little hard to navigate—particularly because everything in the scenery looks the same. If you’re stuck on A Bearer's Lot quest, this guide is for you. We’ll even go over the story if you’re a little lost.

Glaidemond Abbey is located west of Central Rosaria. You’ll have to take a shaft to go down to the field where it's located.

After that, your quest marker will point at an Abbey on top of a hill. Once you walk near the entrance, an event will trigger. The quest will be marked complete after you report back to Martha.

By the way, remember that you can just teleport back to Central Rosaria using its Obelisk. No need to go through all the (admittedly) powerful monsters again.

Final Fantasy XVI A Bearer's Lot story explanation

There’s a lot to unpack in this chapter, but we’ll break down things for you. Rosaria used to be one of the better nations that took care of its Bearers but ever since it was occupied, the current power seated in the area is not kind to them.

Martha buys Branded (the slaves who are Bearers) who are overworked, “unusable,” and dying. She sends them to Glaidemond Abbey so the local priest can take care of them on their deathbed.

There is no cure for the plight these Bearers currently have. This is because they’ve overused their power/Eikon blessing to the point where parts of their body have turned to stone. That’s why you’ll hear things like “It’s cold,” or “I can’t move.”

Humans are not made to bear the powers of an Eikon forever. You see this with Joshua and Cid coughing up blood when they use their powers. Though at a much smaller power scale, Bearers are able to use Eikon blessings as well. After a lifetime of slavery forced to use these powers, they slowly die from the inside.
