Trudging through the frozen tundras of Diablo 4's open world is plenty of fun. Exploring the vast world Blizzard has created for the newest iteration of a legendary RPG trend-setter can bring players many benefits with a plethora of hidden dungeons, secrets, and side quests to discover. Soon I realized just how vast this open world is, and I knew that I wasn't gonna explore every nook and cranny by slogging on foot. So let's get us a horse in Diablo 4!
Diablo IV – How to Unlock Mounts & Donan’s Favor Quest Guide
Unlocking a horse mount in Diablo 4 requires you to do Donan's Favor Quest. It's a Priority Quest assigned to you by Donan in Kyovashad, but unfortunately, you won't get it until the very start of Act 4. That means you will have to play the game on foot throughout Acts 1, 2, and 3, which is a significant portion of the game. It took me about 12 hours of playtime to reach Act 4 by completing main quests and visiting an occasional dungeon.

Fortunately, when you reach Act 4, you won't be able to miss Donan's Favor Quest. Speak to Donan, and he will tell you he has a friend in town that you should visit to get yourself a proper horse. Even Donan has seen my suffering by that point, for which I will be eternally grateful! Once you start the Quest, go to the town stables and talk to Oskar, unlocking your first Horse mount in the game. Depending on which version of Diablo 4 you got, you maybe have some extra mount skins you could equip right now! If you partook in Server Slam, beating Ashava, the World Boss, you would have also earned the Server Slam Mount.
