The new CS:GO Source 2 has been released as a beta limited playtest. As players prepare for competitive play, they will need to hone their skills executing accurate and efficient smoke grenades. For seasoned CS:GO players, the ability to use smoke grenades effectively can often make the difference between winning and losing a round, or even a match. We created this guide to help you make a smoke practice server and to show you how to practice smokes in CS:GO.
How to make a Smoke Practice Server in CS:GO
We have prepared a bunch of commands that you can compile in a config file. This will make the configuration of the server much easier. After you have completed adding the commands to the config file, you will have to put the .cfg into the CS:GO installation folder.
Start by adding these commands to a notepad:
- // Server config
- sv_cheats1
- sv_infinite_ammo 1
- mp_autoteambalance 0
- mp_limitteams 0
- mp_roundtime_defuse 60
- mp_roundtime 60
- mp_startmoney 50000
- mp_maxmoney 50000
- mp_freezetime 0
- mp_buy_anywhere 1
- mp_buytime 9999
- ammo_grenade_limit_total 5
- bot_kick
- mp_warmup_end
- // Practice
- cl_grenadepreview 1
- sv_showimpacts 1
- sv_showimpacts_time 10
- sv_grenade_trajectory 1
- sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10
- bind v noclip
This configuration automatically activates a long round time and eliminates bots to ensure uninterrupted practice sessions. It grants players a generous amount of money to purchase all the necessary grenades and weapons. Moreover, it includes a feature that displays the trajectory of grenades, including their contact points on hard surfaces.
To implement this configuration, save the file as smoke.cfg, or initially as smoke.txt, and then modify the extension to .cfg if needed. To access this folder, right-click the game in your Steam library and select the Local Files option under the Manage submenu. Next, navigate to csgo and paste the smoke.cfg file into the cfg folder.
You can now open the game click Play, choose your desired map, and select Practice With Bots. After you have loaded up into the map, open the console and type exec smoke.cfg. If you want to fly, you will need to press the N button on your keyboard.
